ACK is the call sign for Nantucket Airport. While only 100 square miles, the Island is home to an airport that's the second busiest in Massachusetts due to the proliferation of Nantucket Taxis - Gulfstreams and Learjets - ferrying refugees from Manhattan's hustle to the tranquility of far Atlantic shores. I'd heard tales of this place for a long time from my wife, and in November I finally made it there to be swiftly intoxicated by the light, silence and palette of colours. While a picture carries no sound, in my minds eye, I can still hear the breeze, the pulsing wash of the shore and in between, the silence.
